Iron-rich foods are also good for the hair as it promotes hair growth. Great iron sources include cereals, whole grain bread, eggs, dark green leafy vegetables, and lean red meat. Prunes, apricots, and figs are also good sources of iron. For non-meat sources of iron, you can eat citrus fruits such as lime, lemon, grapefruit, or orange. These sources can be combined with iron rich foods.

Having the right amounts of protein is also an essential diet for healthy hair. Proteins contain amino acids that are great for hair growth. It also helps build cells. Proteins are usually found in eggs, poultry dairy, fish, and meats. If you are a vegetarian, you can get proteins from seeds, grains, nuts, and soy.

A poor diet can have a negative effect on hair growth. It may cause hair loss and the normal cycle of the hair growth to stop. To achieve healthy hair, you need to invest a good diet along with sufficient amount of vitamins, minerals, fats, and proteins.
