Crew Cut Hairstyles
A crew cut is a kind of hairstyle in which the hair on top is relatively cut short. Its length is graduated at the front hairline from the longest hair to the shortest at the crown’s back. The sides and back of the hair in crew cut are usually tapered medium, semi-short, or short. A crew cut hairstyle that is very short is often referred as a buzz cut or butch cut while the hairstyle with long crew cut is called as Ivy League cut.

The Ivy League cut is typical crew cut hairstyle that has hair length on top of the head, half-inch length on the front hairline as well as the back of the crown. Another typical crew cut hairstyle seen in most men today is the short crew cut that has similar proportional difference of the hair length on top of the head. The short crew cut has three quarters of an inch length on the front line while the length at the back of the hair as well as the hair is just one quarter of an inch.
Since crew cut hairstyles have hair on top of the head that is graduated in length, the back and mid part of the crown can be in downward sloping inclination, upward sloping, of level, or flat plane. Downward sloping inclination is often called as flattop or flat top crew cut. Traditionally, all crew cut hairstyles are often groomed with butch wax or hair control wax.
